For over 30 years savi designer Gerhard Herbst has been creating unique challenging pieces that consistently redefine the jewelry medium.

Gerhard began making jewelry at age 15 and received his degree in Sculpture and Jewellery Designs from San Diego State
University. After graduating Gerhard established his jewellery business in Noosaville Queensland.

Traditionally trained in the metalsmithing arts ,Gerhard draws most of his inspirations from the Contemporary Danish Metalsmiths of the late 1960's, and the work of the American Sculpture, Alexander Calder.

Working primarily from flat sterling sheet and wire, Gerhard individually forges and hammers his forms simultaneously stretching and compressing the material to create superior flex, strength, and temper in his work.

It is these unique structural properties that allows Gerhard to produce the spatial sculptural forms and curvilinear shapes which feature most predominately in his work.

Today Gerhard has become a leading jewelry designer and he exhibits and sells his pieces in the finest jewellery stores and craft galleries through out Australia New Zealand and North America.
